The Story

Over the course of eight vocal and one instrumental pieces, she artfully blends jazz, country music, with a touch of blues.

Over the course of eight vocal and one instrumental pieces, she artfully blends jazz and, another
longtime passion of hers, country music, with a touch of blues. For this project. Andy draws on
the enduring inspiration of Charles, who had a significant impact on country music with his 1962
album Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music, which brought his unique blend of soul,
R&B, and jazz to classic country songs.
The songwriting sessions ultimately blossomed into this infectious, alternately intimate and high-
spirited mood swinging journey began where all country music dreams start, in Nashville. Andy
and her husband and co-producer Piero recorded the album in the spirit of collaboration with a
batch of top-flight Music City songwriters at the home of Cowherd's friend Dexter Green
(Johnny Cooper, Collective Soul, Rebecca Lynn Howard).
Seven of the tunes are co-writes by Jon and different mixes and matches of the team that
included Nicole Atkins, Tre Burt, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Emily Levy and Ryan Scott. The only
exceptions to the full on collabs are Jon's beautiful, passionate instrumental ballad 'Wilson's
Gospel' (featuring the stunning violin of Charlie Bisharat) and the final track, the charming,
uplifting romantic ballad 'Our Favorite Little Street,' composed by Ryan Scott.
There was no major agenda on the part of Andy, Piero or Jon, just a desire to exchange stories,
musical and good melodic and lyrical vibes other longtime pro writers who plied their trade in
another vein and from very different perspectives and world views. In Andy's musical mind, this
unique setup didn't just offer the potential to make fantastic songs, but also prompted her to up her game and rise to the challenge of expanding her own artistry.
