Robyn North was the youngest actress to understudy the role of Christine in The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre. Having played a succession of lead roles since on tour (Miss Dorothy in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Isabel in Scrooge) and appearing in the original cast of Michael Grandage’s revival of Evita, she came full circle in 2007 to play the leading role of Christine in her own right, making her debut as a leading lady in the West-End. It led to a 2008 Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Award nomination for Best Takeover in a Role, an award voted for by the theatregoing public, thus marking her out as one of the Phantom Phans’ favourite ‘Christines’, and affirming her place as one of the West-End’s most promising young talents.
