Felipe Salles brings the flavor of Ugandan musical tradition to a new life in Ugandan Suite.
Felipe Salles traveled to Uganda in 2011 where he researched traditional music and wildlife, worked with local artists, and visited the music departments of Makerere and Kyambogo Universities. This work is the first major jazz composition to use Ugandan musical idioms. Each of the work's five movements portrays the character of the animal from which it takes its name.
