Putting the music of Maria João in a category is not easy. She takes a bit from different kinds of musical directions including avant-garde music, modern jazz, Latin American music and Portuguese folklore. In 1991, she recorded her album 'SOL' in the Bauer Studios Ludwigsburg with Grupo Cal Viva. 25 years later, in April 2016, she came back to Ludwigsburg to record her new project 'Ogre'. With João Farinha on the Fender Rhodes, piano and synthesizer, and André Nascimento on the laptop and sequencers, Maria João impresses with her vocal wide range.
