In this work Boulez juxtaposes European music with African percussion and Balinese gamelan sounds; Japanese koto and the all-embracing flute. Based on short texts by Rene Char, the music appears in nine short sections and the voice becomes like one of the instruments. The Mezzo Soprano Linda Hirst and Lontano, conductor Odaline de la Martinez deliver a spot on performance.
