The art of the trio is always a popular topic in jazz. With Saluzzi/Friedman/Cox, Frisell/Ales/Godsey, Friedman/Cox/Matinier, Ned Rothenberg Sync or Jasper Van't Hof's Face To Face, among others, Intuition Records offers very different but consistently top-class examples. One of the most beautiful trios unites three former Miles David sidemen, each a celebrated virtuoso on his own instrument. 'Working with Kevin Eubanks and Mino Cinelu on this project has been one of the most enjoyable musical experiences of recent years. A true spirit of sharing and co-creation has characterized our work. The resulting music reflects the highest level of community and communication,' sums up bassist Dave Holland.
When looking for a name that would fit inti the wide musical range of this ensemble, World Trio, seemed like the most true & best fitting definition for the synthesis of their musical heritage and evolution. Indeed the music of the World Trio can not be considered as european or american jazz, but at least as a link between three different cultures. Their very first recording contains nine beautiful originals that sound easy and light but do reflect the state of the art of acoustic Jazz, performed by three true instrumental masters.
