The instrumental post-rock band Syberia from Barcelona have crafted a sound that speaks volumes without ever uttering a single word. Their music is a collision of cinematic atmospheres, explosive dynamics, and guitar-driven emotional weight--a kind of gravitational pull that slowly draws the listener in before overwhelming them with sheer, deliberately deployed force.
What makes Syberia so compelling is their ability to balance patience and intensity. Their compositions often begin with fragile, shimmering lines--clean guitars stretched across vast reverbs--gradually building tension until everything finally erupts into a wall of distortion. Yet these climaxes never feel gratuitous. They are earned, shaped with a keen sense of dramaturgy that reveals a band who have deeply internalized the architecture of instrumental storytelling. After the overwhelming debut album Drawing A Future (2013) and its successor Resiliency (2016), the band signed with Metal Blade and released Seeds Of Change (2019) and Statement On Death (2022). With Quan tot s'apagui, they now present a work that marks a significant artistic and emotional turning point in their career. For the first time, the group delivers an album conceived entirely in Catalan--a step that strengthens their identity and lends their sound a new expressive depth.
Quan tot s'apagui is their darkest and most introspective album to date. It offers a symbolic confrontation with the end of the world and the transition into nothingness--a sonic narrative in which beauty and devastation coexist. The record draws more heavily on post-metal and black metal influences, expanding Syberia's signature sound into more intense, atmospheric, and wilder territory, while never losing the melodic sensitivity that has always defined them.
