With the release of the second CD on the legendary Challenge Records label, Bear Family Records® continues its acclaimed That'll Flat... Git It! series, once again diving deep into the explosive world of late 1950s and early 1960s Rockabilly and Rock'n'Roll. Following the highly praised first volume (BCD17780), this collection draws exclusively from the catalogs of Los Angeles-based Challenge Records and its Jackpot subsidiary-two of the most exciting independent labels of the era, founded by Gene Autry and Joe Johnson.

The second CD delivers the same relentless energy and musical quality that made its predecessor a favorite among collectors and fans. Listeners familiar with our first compilation BCD17780 will instantly recognize several artists returning with equally powerful performances. Wynn Stewart is featured again, this time with She Just Tears Me Up and a particularly fast-paced version of Come-On. Texas-born rockers Huelyn Duvall and Jerry Fuller make welcome reappearances, while Challenge's flagship combo The Champs are represented alongside their key artists Dave Burgess and Chuck Rio. Kip Tyler & The Flips bring their trademark drive, and piano-pounder Al Downing once more contributes a standout with the blistering Oh! Babe, backed by The Poe Kats.
The compilation also shines with storming sides by Kimball Coburn, Jerry Arnold, The Four Teens, and R&B powerhouse Prentice Moreland. A major attraction of this volume is the inclusion of artists not featured on Volume 1. Jimmy Gordon, Al Lucas, Hedley & Lee, Jack Southern (possibly Baker Knight recording under an alias), The Rangers, and Gene Davis all make their presence felt, expanding the musical scope of the set. Guitar-driven workouts by Bob Regan and Alan Pierce & The Tonekings further enhance the high-octane feel throughout.
