The Story

The Clap created their own unique sound and started recording their own material in the early 80s and released a few singles and 1 EP - Till NOW

The Clap is the Lehigh valleys oldest and longest running punk band. They form in the fall of 1978 in the attic of Johnny's Parents house. Johnny the founder, Bass player and lead singer. Mike Rex Guitars and Robbie Brungard on Drums. They were teenagers and Punk rock music was just starting to move into the Lehigh Valley. THE CLAP where pioneers of this movement Being inspired by the New York and British punk scene. The Clap created their own unique sound and started recording their own material in the early 80s and released a few singles and 1 EP, and can also be found on an abundance of compilation CD's albums and bootlegs. The Band has changed lineups many times through the years but Johnny is the only original member remaining in the band these days. He has formed a solid lineup now with Paul Boruch (Butch) on drums, Art Zawodny on 1st guitar and for the first time adding a fourth member to the mix Dox on 2nd guitar who is a Veteran of the Local Punk scene . THE CLAP currently play shows in the North East US. and every year in Fall They try to tour a different location in the U.S.A. They Have toured with the pork Dukes. , Menace, 999 the Vibrators and By themselves and have opened for a host of punk bands for the past 44 years.
