The Story

The Sword and the Sorcerer (1982) storms into the Imprint Collection in a spectacular Limited Edition 4K UHD + Blu-ray Steelbook, housed in a premium 3D Lenticular Hardcase and accompanied by a double-sided poster. Strictly limited to 1500 copies, this box office fantasy smash returns in definitive form, celebrating the cult classic that helped define early-’80s sword-and-sorcery cinema.

A lusty epic of revenge and black magic, the film follows Talon, a fearless mercenary armed with a deadly three-bladed sword, who discovers he is the rightful prince of a kingdom enslaved by an evil sorcerer. Thrust into a battle of castles, dungeons, witches, warlocks, and royal intrigue, Talon must confront dark magic and medieval mayhem to rescue a beautiful princess and reclaim his destiny. Starring Lee Horsley, Kathleen Beller, Simon MacCorkindale, George Maharis, Richard Lynch, and Richard Moll, the film marked the directorial debut of cult B-movie auteur Albert Pyun (Cyborg), whose flair for high-adventure spectacle and genre energy is on full display.

Disc One presents the film in Dolby Vision 2160p ultra-high-definition on 4K UHD, framed at 1.85:1 with English DTS-HD 5.1 Surround and LPCM 2.0 Stereo audio, plus optional English HOH subtitles. Two audio commentaries by director Albert Pyun—moderated separately by film critic John Charles and author/critic Chris Gore—provide in-depth insights into the film’s production and legacy.

Disc Two features a 1080p Blu-ray presentation with the same commentary tracks, along with an extensive slate of special features: Tales of the Ancient Empire (interview with Albert Pyun), A Princess’ Tale (interview with Kathleen Beller), Mightier than the Sword (interview with co-writer/co-producer John Stuckmeyer), Master of the Blade (interview with editor Marshall Harvey), The Specialist and the Effects (interview with special effects artist Allan Apone), Brothers In Arms (interview with The Chiodo Bros.), Dedicated to Jack Tyree, Stuntman, Trailers From Hell featuring Marshall Harvey, theatrical trailers, TV spot, and an image gallery.

With its blend of swashbuckling action, dark fantasy, and unapologetic ’80s spectacle, The Sword and the Sorcerer remains a cornerstone of cult fantasy cinema—now presented in a lavish collector’s edition worthy of its legendary three-bladed steel.
