Andreas Romberg, born in 1767, was the successor to Louis Spohr as Music Director of the Court of Gotha. This CD features a representative selection of Romberg's musical oeuvre, which, although extensive, remains largely unexplored. Several of the works are presented for the first time in this recording, part of the series 'Music at the Court of Gotha' by the Thuringian State Orchestra Gotha.
