“Natural Perception” is the goal, theme, and title of the upcoming tour and Album. The theme refers to the spiritual power of music that emerges when musicians are in the same place without mental obstacles. Recorded in New York and Berlin, the Quintet’s music is influenced by the 60’s post--‐bop era, with hints of modern classical music and singer--‐songwriter styles woven in. The opening track “Chord” pays tribute to the aforementioned 60’s post--‐bop era with it’s swinging groove, whereas “Dark Eyes of Tomorrow” they break up the traditional jazz form and explore the realms of collective improvisation. “The Effort” is inspired by a Wayne Shorter documentary where Wayne identified the pursuit of musical perfection to be ‘the effort.’ Ingrid and Tobias play off of one another in “Native Speaker,” a classic groove tune. You can hear Ingrid Jenson experiment with a variety of synthesizers on Tobias’ arrangement of “You’re My Everything.”
