From that inspiration sprang his efforts to learn the instrument, ultimately lead-ing to a 2009 doctorate from the Sibelius Academy. âPart of the good fortune that I have had in performing premieres of freshly composed works is in its inherent unpredictability. Such is the case with the present recorded works, which were published almost three hundred years ago.'
