The items on this disc cover a wide variety of styles and reflect the different ways Finnish composers approach the accordion. Representing a very interesting sound perspective on the accordion are the two piano suites Fiddlersand Icons- already classics -by Einojuhani Rautavaara. Without the encouragement of the composer himself, I would never have dared to arrange them. I am, however, pleased to say that all the transcriptions have been closely debated, listened to and decided together with the composer.The composers on this disc really have only one thing in common, apart from the fact that they are all Finns. Not one of them plays the accordion! Their works were produced in partnership with the undersigned and, apart from Nordgren's In Patches, it was I who premiered them all. – Matti Rantanen
